In 1972 James P Nix was elected mayor, and thus began the transformation of the tiny town of Fairhope from a rundown, sleepy little southern enclave to becoming one of the most creative, beautiful and vibrant cities in America.  Born dirt  poor in Robertsdale, Alabama, through shear determination he made his way to becoming one of the most influential men in the State of Alabama.

After he retired, it was all almost taken away from him – his financial success. home and his freedom – by those he loved.
